Entry 6: First payroll ever

She cannot get herself excited with her first payroll because of those around her. They make so much deal with the hours given to them. She understands that more hours equal more money, but to add her in the conversation when she is not even complaining herself, that is just so distasteful in her opinion.

She starts working for experience so she can put something under work experience in her resume, the money is an added bonus - it is for her tuition fee for her last semester in the university. People might call her naive, but since she does not plan to stay with her current job, it does not really matter to her whether she gets 72 hours or 80  hours in two weeks.

Truthfully, her work as a caregiver is very relaxing since most of the clients are self-sustained, mobile, and do their own thing - only, she chooses to do the 'housekeeping' part of the job, which exhausts her physically, and the 'bookkeeping' part, which exhausts her mentally. Everything is bearable, but her feet do become numb and achy after the shift. She ought to take a shower right away once she gets back home, but she is too tired to do so and ends up showering later instead.

It is bizarre. She has been volunteering since her middle school days, but they were more fun than this actual job that pays money. Maybe because in volunteering, you meet various people and go to various places. That is why she aims to find a job which takes her to see places. Hopefully soon.

P.S.

She appreciates her efforts being rewarded through any means - praises, bonuses, a free Dodger's game ticket, t-shirts, and so on. Money is just one of those rewards. It makes her happy, but she tries not to let the amount control her perceptions of other things - like comparing wages and so on.
